Craig Herlihy
MASTER PIANO TECHNICIAN
Craig is a master piano technician who has tuned and repaired thousands of pianos with over 30 years experience. Customers appreciate his professional and friendly style and his ability to listen to their needs and explain piano information in down to earth terms. He is known for his impeccable sense of intonation resulting in a perfectly tuned piano.
Craig is also an internationally recognized and award winning performing and recording musician, which gives him a deeper understanding of a performer’s needs when working on their piano. This blend of musical and mechanical expertise along with his care and attention to detail make for exceptional piano service.
Experience
Craig became interested in the piano at an early age not only as a musical instrument but also as a fascinating mechanical device and an exquisite piece of furniture.
Craig started his piano technician career in the 1990s, working for a decade with Larry Buck at EJ Buck & Sons Custom Piano in Lowell MA. In addition to tuning pianos, he took part in the complete disassembly and rebuild of many classic and antique piano makes such as Steinway and Mason & Hamlin.
After honing his skills in the workshop and tuning on the road for many years, Craig opened Zygo Piano Service in 2000 with much success.
Over the years he has also worked with Darrell’s Music Hall of Nashua NH as well as William Faller of Temple NH. Craig has also been a warranty technician for Yamaha pianos and is a friend of the NH chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild. Craig has tuned pianos for many professional musicians including Livingston Taylor and touring artists from the across the musical spectrum.
